2021 was an incredible year for Beering. The year began like any other, we travelled around the country sampling as many beers as we could. Until we decided, its time to fully expand the Beering brand. We began building our website, improving our Instagram and establishing new relationships with beer businesses and bloggers. The Beering team have tried and incredible amount of craft beer in 2021, it was a long tough process but we have finally compiled our list. Here is the official Beering top 10 beers of 2021!
1. Omnipollo Bianca Blueberry Blackberry Marshmallow Lassi Gose (6%) An incredible sour from the Bianca series, one of the favourites of the Beering team! Omnipollo have been very busy with a constant stream of great sours and stouts but they can also hold their own with pale ales and IPA’s. Although based in Sweden, they are known as the gypsy kings of collaborations and regularly use breweries all over the world to make their beer!

2. Brew York BA HYG State Of Mind 2021 – Bourbon Barrel Aged Peanut Caramel & Marshmallow Double Milk Stout (10%)
It didn’t seem possible but Brew York have managed to improve on their already almost perfect HYG stout and produced a stunning barrel-aged version. In their State of Mind collection, this one truly shines. Easily the best stout of the year with its immense dessert flavours and oaky undertones which mask its ABV! Brew York are based in Yorkshire, UK and are know for their complete range of diverse beers and consistent high quality!

3. Siren White Chocolate Pancake Stack (7.4% White Stout) Siren rounded off a great year with an amazing set of 4 carribean chocolate cake stouts! The Beering team, attended a pub take over and sampled each one. All were exceptional but the white chocolate pancake stack stood out as a clear winner with its thick syrupy consistency and strong maple taste. Where the others had slightly too burnt dark chocolate flavours, this was more of a treacle flavour. Siren are based in Berkshire, UK are one of the largest craft beer brands after Brewdog and recently won the Supreme Champion Beer of Britian Award!

4. Mad Squirrel Cloudburst (8% Double New England IPA) Having worked incredibly hard all year, Mad Squirrel produced consistently good beers, but during the summer their Cloudburst really stood out and was a great hot weather beer! With its creamy and well balanced flavour, it was easy to sip in the sun and forget just how strong this beer is. Very well crafted by the Hertfordshire brewery who have many taprooms located in Herts and Berkshire!

5. Vault City Blackberry Mango Coconut Dreamcake (9% Pastry Sour) This list wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Vault City and their consistant high quality sours! Insanely thick, I felt like drinking a boozy smoothie, except the high alcohol content was hidden so well by the strong fruity flavours. Vault City are based in Edinburgh, Scotland and mostly stick their specialty which modern sour beer with fruity flavours!

6. Phantom Brewing Deja Vu (5.6% New England IPA) Another Berkshire based brewery near Reading with a team of young professional brewers, Phantom have been able to quickly establish themselves as a high quality brewery! The Deja Vu NEIPA was and exceptionally creamy fruity beer that can easily be enjoyed during the summer! Phantom are a brewery we are keeping a close eye on as they venture out into making different types of beer and collaborations!

7. Drekker Brewing CHONK Cherry Marshmallow & Chocolate (7.2% Smoothie Pastry Sour) The only American beer to make it on our list but after trialling at the London Beer Festival, we have been actively looking at how to try more of the CHONK series! The mix of flavours with chocolate and Marshmallow work beautifully and it’s easy to see a lot of work has gone into their beers. Located in the famous town of Fargo, North Dakota, we are certainly looking forward to our next research trip to the States!

8. New Bristol Brewery Creme Brulee (7% Stout) Based in Bristol UK, these guys are becoming known as experts in the beer field. Known for their stunningly designed monkey themed cans, NB are made up of a husband and wife duo creating a range of IPAs, Sours and Stouts! The Creme Brulee stands out with its strong milky flavours and sweetness that make it feel like you’re actually eating a dessert!

9. Brew York Extra Brownie Pints (11% Double Milk Stout) The original brownie pints was an incredible stout, but as always BY like to improve each beer by doubling up! With its incredibly high ABV, this is a monstrous stout which needs to be sipped slowly and throughly enjoyed! It doesn’t feel like they could improve this much more… but that’s how we felt about the HYG… and then the barrel aged version was released! Maybe this year we’ll see a BA Brownie Pints…

10. Funky Fluid Triple Gelato Berries and Cream – Raspberry, Blackcurrent, Marshmallow & Vanilla(10% Triple Smoothie Pastry Sour) Its a mouthful to say and to drink with its abundance of insane flavours! The Gelato series is amazing and we haven’t had a bad one yet! But the triple version just felt like a beast of beer that very few breweries could compete with. Funky Fluid are based in the capital of Poland, Warsaw and are actively selling across Europe and working with big brands like Omnipollo and Siren!
